James Boeke

From 1956-59, Boeke was a standout performer on the gridiron for Heidelberg College. As an offensive tackle he helped lead Heidelberg to an overall record of 28-8 and was named to the Ohio Athletic Conference first team in 1959. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and played left tackle for four years-1960, ’61, ’62, and ’63. He was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, playing four years, appearing in two championship games in 1966 and ’67. His final year in the NFL was 1968 with the New Orleans Saints. He had a total of nine years in the NFL. In 1985 Boeke was selected as a Charter Member of the Heidelberg College Athletic Hall of Fame.
